Who we are
Delaware SPCA, founded in 1873, and Delaware Humane Association (DHA), serving the community since 1957, recently announced their intention to merge in fall 2021. The merged organization will continue to offer adoption, low-cost veterinary services, and spay/neuter at our facility in Christiana; the new entity will also include DHA’s current sites in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. The combination of our two strong organizations will allow us to grow our programs and services, ultimately helping even more animals and people.
The Fast & the Furriest 5K will be our first event together! Join us to celebrate this exciting merger and help us raise funds to support our lifesaving services. We welcome all involvement, whether you choose to participate by running or walking, supporting us with a corporate sponsorship or individual donation, or setting up a vendor table at the event!

Course
Rockford Park provides a beautiful setting for our 5k. Starting and finishing near the Rockford Tower, the course takes runners around one loop of the park and then out Tower Drive to Pennsylvania Avenue, with a turnaround at A.I. du Pont Middle School. Runners then circle back to Rockford Park and complete one more loop around the park.
Policies
-Dogs are not permitted to run the course due to insurance liability but may be walked on a leash.
-Social distancing and safety protocols will be in place and enforced.
-Bibs are non-transferrable.
