There
will be 20+ portable toilets near the start/finish line. There
will be Water, GU20, Coffee and pre-race “carbs”
outside the hospitality tent beginning at 5:45 am. There will also be
water and GU20 in the finish line chutes, outside the hospitality tent,
and at the medical tent all day long.
The
marathon will start PROMPTLY at 7 a.m. The relay and ten-mile races will
follow PROMPTLY at 7:05 a.m.
We have
purposely limited the number of participants in each event, so each
participant will have the opportunity for a clean start and an
unencumbered path throughout the race. At about the 6.2 mile mark, you
will traverse a wooden “swinging” footbridge. This footbridge has an
uneven surface and caution is advised. This footbridge crossing occurs
only on Lap 1.
For
safety, identification, and competitive reasons, relay and ten mile
runners are to wear their numbers on the FRONT of their shirts and the
special “relay” tags on the back of their shirts. As you complete
each lap, all runners will
cross
the
timing mats under the balloon arch at the finish area. Relay runners will
then be directed to their left into the Relay Team "transition area",
where they will exchange their Winning Time ankle chip/velcro
band with their team mate.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
10 Mile runners who are also competing on a relay team should NOT
enter the official finish line chute but should proceed into the relay
transition area to exchange their chip with their team mate. Your scoring
and finishing position in the 10 Mile Race will NOT be affected –
you are crossing the same timing mats.
It is also recommended the subsequent relay team member remove the Winning
Time timing chip/velcro band from their
completed relay teammate and place it around their own ankle before
proceeding.
After
your portion of the race is completed, you will be channeled through our
finish line chutes where there is water and GU20. If you need medical
attention, it will be provided by our medical team who will have
volunteers in the finish line chutes. Marathon runners will also receive
assistance in removing their timing chip and will receive their medal in
the chutes.
Afterwards, you may present your race number to claim your hospitality
meal in our hospitality tent. We have planned for only one hospitality
meal per runner or volunteer, so please be respectful of our hospitality
volunteers. Our hospitality tent will open at 8:45 and will remain
open throughout the day.
If you
need a ride back to downtown Wilmington, please
email us.
We have arranged for a Christiana Care Shuttle van to transport runners
from the event site to downtown Wilmington after the race
Showers will be
available after the event at the Central YMCA, Eleventh & Washington
Streets in Wilmington (302-571-6900).
Please show your runner number for entry. The Central YMCA is only a
several block walk from the official host hotels. Bring lock and
towel.
