Event Transportation

Saturday Transportation:

Transportation from the official race hotels to Packet Pickup on Saturday, May 17, 2008 will be available by using Dart's City of Wilmington Circuit Route #32 Wilmington Trolley. This public bus can be picked up at Rodney Square, a few blocks from our downtown host hotels. This bus line runs from Rodney Square to Frawley Stadium on the Wilmington Riverfront. Rodney Square is located at 10th and Market Streets (across from the Hotel DuPont and the Wilmington Public Library) in the heart of Wilmington.

This year, the NOT FOR RUNNERS ONLY Pre Race Pasta Party will be held at Catherine Rooney’s Irish Pub at 1616 Delaware Avenue in the Trolley Square neighborhood of Wilmington. Trolley Square is about 2 miles from our downtown race hotels. Therefore, one pasta party shuttle run will be provided by the race organizers. A Christiana Care shuttle will leave the Sheraton at 4:55 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2008, proceed over to the Courtyard Hotel at 5:00 pm and will bring our hotel guests to Catherine Rooney’s. The shuttle will then return to Catherine Rooney’s at 6:30 pm to bring the guests back to their downtown hotels. Reservations will be accepted; otherwise spots will be made available on a first-come basis
.

Sunday Transportation:

On race day, only limited transportation from the Christiana Care Transportation Department will be available and it is strongly suggested everyone drive to the race START. There is plenty of free parking in the Riverfront and only limited transportation will be available on race day. If at all possible, please offer your fellow runner a shared ride to the START.

A Christiana Care shuttle will arrive at the Sheraton Suites at 5:15 a.m. and depart at 5:20; arrive at the Courtyard at 5:25 and depart at 5:30; arrive at the Doubletree at 5:35 and depart at 5:40 and will arrive at the Riverfront at 5:50. A second shuttle will arrive at the Sheraton at 6:00 and depart at 6:05; arrive at the Courtyard at 6:10 and depart at 6:15; arrive at the Doubletree at 6:20 and depart at 6:25 and arrive at the Riverfront at 6:35. Return transportation from the Riverfront back to the downtown host hotels will depart the Riverfront at 11:00 am; 12:00 Noon; and 1:00 pm.

NEW THIS YEAR: The Delaware Marathon shuttle stop on the Riverfront has been moved to the first base side of Frawley Stadium, outside the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame office.

Please be aware that it will be difficult getting into and out of the Riverfront during the marathon this year due to incoming traffic from a 10:00 am Wilmington University graduation at the CHASE Center. Our best advice would be to arrive early and watch the runners from the Riverfront. The runners pass through our relay transition area five times during the marathon and they run through Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park eight times during the marathon. Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park is located at S. Market Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard – behind the AMTRAK Station; approximately one mile from the START/FINISH along the Riverwalk. NOTE: Be alert as the runners use the Riverwalk as part of the race course.
