Directions
Benefits: The
iconic smoke stack and last remaining structure of Newark’s
former Curtis Paper Mill will stand and be the centerpiece
of the soon-to-be-constructed Curtis Mill Park. The park
will have a trail head for hikers, bikers and joggers; a
skate park; interpretive signage showcasing the unique
history of the site as well as the history of Newark;
seating; picnicking; pavilion and more. The smokestack will
undergo an historically accurate renovation and cleaning
process. The work will include brick pointing, masonry
repairs, waterproofing, concrete cap replacement, up
lighting, lightning arrester system, power washing and
chemical cleaning, and the repainting of Curtis name. The
Friends of Curtis Mill Park have additional information
