Race Time: 12:30 pm (registration opens at 11 am) Location: Conaty Park, behind Trolley Square on Gilpin Ave. Registration will take place at Catherine Rooney's on De. Ave. Directions Benefits: The John J. Murray Foundation currently provides funding to The Scleroderma Research Center at the Thomas Jefferson University of Philadelphia as well as Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware. This commitment began in 1997 following John's sister Cathy's diagnosis with Scleroderma. John led the effort to provide funds for the SRC by hosting Putt for Progress, a gold outing that went on to become an annual event and which has raised over $400,000 to date. The Center is one of the few facilities in the United States, which seeks to find a cause and a cure for Scleroderma. Since John's untimely death on September 11th, 2001 the Foundation has contributed a portion of funds raised to a scholarship grant at Salesianum. Salesianum, a Roman Catholic High School for boys, is widely recognized for its ability to educate young men to the highest standards of academic and moral excellence. John was a 1986 graduate of Salesianum and the scholarship grant is in his name. Course: Same route as Catherine Rooney's 5k.
